His Name is Vanitas

***Please note that this article contains major spoilers. So if you haven’t played Birth by Sleep yet, go play it, and then come back and read this article.***
Vanitas or The Masked Boy is one of the main antagonists in Birth by Sleep. He is the embodiment of Ventus’s darkness that Master Xehanort unlocked. The keyblade he wields is called the Void Gear. The plan was to have Vanitas -pure dark- , and Ventus -pure light- to forge the ever powerful χ-blade. But Ventus needed to get stronger. Vanitas tricks Ven into going after Terra once Terra leaves and thus playing out the entire story of Birth by Sleep. Vanitas appears through out the story taunting Terra, Aqua, and Ven. Towards the end of the story, Vanitas lures Ven to the Keyblade Graveyard. Once our heroes enter the final battle, Ven is frozen and Vanitas delivers a mighty blow to Aqua and just as he’s about to finish her for good, Ven uses all is might to break free from his frozen prison. This is where Ven and Vanitas finally clash. Once Vanitas is defeated the first time, he reveals he is the cause of all the Unversed. Then Ven and Vanitas are transferred into a Dive into the Heart, where Vanitas is weilding an incomplete χ-blade. To complete it he must fight Ven, but Ven refuses to let it be completed, no matter what it takes. While all this is happening, Aqua and Mickey find a Ventus possessed by Vanitas wielding a complete χ-blade. After the intense battle, with both Ventus possessed by Vanitas and Vanitas wielding the incomplete χ-blade, Vanitas is vanquished, but Ven enters a coma-like state.
Once he is defeated you can play as Aqua, Terra, or Ven to fight Vanitas' Remnant in the Keyblade Graveyard which is a crazy difficult fight. If you defeat him, you obtain the Void Gear keyblade.

For Kingdom Hearts III I can see Vanitas returning, even though he was defeated, and I’ll tell you why.
One thing you probably noticed was the Vanitas unmasked looks exactly like Sora, only with black hair. Either that’s just a fun coincidence or there is a connection, so when Ven awakens in KHIII will he think Sora is Vanitas?
Another thing is Vanitas was Master Xehanort's right hand man. When Xehanort returns,
he’ll probably want his assistant back, and him being an all powerful Keyblade master he must know some way to re summon him.
And Vanitas controls all of the Unversed. Right now we have Heartless and Nobodies, & Xehanort probably can control them since Xehanort’s Heartless and Xemnas controlled them both before. Having all three enemies at his disposal would make him even more powerful.
Come on Nomura, don’t use an awesome character only once!

What do you think? Am I totally off, will Vanitas stay gone forever? Please Comment with you thoughts.

The Star Seeker

Most of you probably already know what the star seeker is. It is a keyblade that you obtain after Sora gets his new clothes in KHII. As it is only the second one you get, it isn't very powerful. It gives you  +3 Strength and +1 Magic with the Air Combo Plus ability which "Increases maximum combo by 1 when in midair." It also can't be used by anything except Valor Form until you get a third keyblade.

In 358/2 Days The King has it as an unlockable keyblade when attaching the Pandora's Gear and is much stronger that his Kingdom Key D.

This is the part that you probably haven't thought of before. Mickey has the Star Seeker as his keyblade in BBS, but he doesn't use it in 1, CoM, 2, or in 358/2 Days because of the reasons that I wrote about in this article. But Mickey does start using it again in Re:Coded.

What this made me think about is is the Star Seeker Yen Sid's keyblade? In Birth by Sleep it says that Yen Sid has renounced his being a keyblade master and probably along with that using a keyblade. So with Mickey being his pupil in BBS I though maybe Yen Sid allowed Mickey to use the Star Seeker as his blade.

Another supporting idea is Sora obtains the use of the Star Seeker while he is inside The Mysterious Tower that, as we know, Yen Sid lives.

What do you think? Does my theory make any sense, or do you have evidence otherwise to disprove it? Please comment in this post. Thanks for reading!

What's Up With Us?

I know its been nearly three months since we've bothered updating our little corner of the internet, but rest assured, there are good changes coming.

Since Summer is just around the corner, both Lime Face and I will start updating daily with posts both big and small. It gets to become very difficult to think of something to write about every day, so if all of you would please leave a comment on our posts or on our Facebook page (more on that in a second) telling us what you'd like us to talk about or you could vote in our new poll. That would help us out a lot.

Now we are on Facebook! Most everybody in the world has a Facebook page, and so we decided we should too! If you look over on the right you will see a little widget to "like" us on Facebook and keep updated on what we are doing through there.

Yen Sid's Library Facebook Page

The last thing I want to tell you is that we are going to be adding separate pages here and you can find them on the right as well. The newest one we've added is the "About Us" page. This is just to let you know who your people from Yen Sid's Library are and that we are in fact human.

About Us Page

Thanks for keeping up and we hope that you will return and will like to read what we have to offer. Remember, if you like Kingdom Hearts, this is the place to be!
